Adopted

We have had Jenny in our home since March; we decided we cannot let her go, and have adopted her. Now that she has acclimated and just loves me a little too much, we feel our home is the best place for her. We are so happy to keep her and give her a place she can call a forever home. :)

Jenny's having a blast!

Ale Viper "Jenny" has made so much progress, since we took her into our home. We decided her name wasn't befitting, and changed it to Jenny. She appears to prefer her new name, and will approach me when I use it. She loves to run in the yard and play with her squeaky toys. She now approaches me to pet her daily, and loves the attention. We started having rabbits come into our yard to eat the plants. Of all the yards they pick it is the one with two greyhounds running around. Amazingly Jenny hasn't caught any yet, but I think it is just a matter of time because she gets so close. The only thing saving the rabbits is the fence that helps them get away. We take her for walks a few times a week during the evening, and she enjoys it. I always keep a strong hold of her leash, just in case she gets spooked by a person or loud sound.

Enjoying the outdoors

We took Viper camping with us over the weekend. She loves being outdoors in the woods. She did extremely well considering it was her first camping trip. The only time she became nervous was when people walked past us on the trail. Otherwise she was well behaved.

Snuggling with Lance on the dog bed. Enjoying my space in the tent.

Having fun watching the waterfalls.

Having a blast!

Sorry, Lance I need a friend to lean on.

Hey, did somebody say rabbit?

Viper has finally shown trust. It has been about a month, since I have had her and she has grown so much. She now takes food from my hand. It all started when I was sitting on the couch eating Tostitos. She walked over near me, and I was shocked. I put my hand out with a chip in it. At first she just sniffed and backed away. She did this a couple of times, and then very gently took the chip from my hand. Ever since that incident I have been able to give her treats by hand. This is such a huge step for her. Also she now approaches me to pet her. She will come up sniff and lick my hand and want me to pet her. I cannot believe that this shy sweet girl has come so far in such a short time. I finally see her fun personality. She loves to play and run in the yard, and is a kisser. I would have never known that she likes to give kisses because when I first brought her home she was terrified to even come near me. She is extremely gentle and has a playful puppy side. She just needed to come out of her shell to show her true colors.

Who said I retired from the track?

Viper's progress

Viper has shown so much progress, since we have had her. She has learned how to play with dog toys and loves squeaky toys. She runs in the yard with her toys in her mouth. She is starting to show trust and is following me around more. She still doesn’t approach me to pet her. I have to walk over to her, but once I start petting her she enjoys it and wants the attention. She can go up and down the stairs. She sleeps on her dog bed at night, and only gets crated when we aren’t home and during feedings. She doesn’t like to do her business on the leash. When we take her on walks we have to let her out in our yard immediately after. I guess she is a little shy about that stuff. We have two cats and she shows no interest in them at all. She appears to thrive in the presence of another greyhound, and follows our dog wherever he goes.

Settling into a home

Viper is a very beautiful girl. We have had her in our home for about a week. She is starting to come out of her shell, but still is nervous about approaching me. She is now able to go up and down the stairs independently. She has been enjoying having a fenced in yard, and due to her shyness does best in a fenced in area. I have taken her out on the leash, but only close to home. She does best having another greyhound around her. We are fortunate she loves our dog Lance, and he has helped her to adjust and become comfortable in her new home environment. Viper is still learning about dog toys and does not know exactly what to do with them. Today I threw a tennis ball, and she picked it up and dropped it across the yard. I think that Viper has so much potential to become a loyal and affectionate pet. She will thrive with a gentle and patient human companion.

This beautiful black beauty is very shy. She's a tiny little thing who will need lots of time and patience for her sweet little soul to shine through.
